JLC + warm taupe cow leather

Custom warm taupe for the Reverso

My fourth iteration of the “tiny stitch” stepped strap.

Taupe has always been a challenging colour to create. Partly because everyone has their own idea of how it should look, but also because it’s not too far off the original cow (or even kangaroo) leather in its natural vege-tan state. So only very very dilute solutions of brown will get the correct colour. If it’s too concentrated, it just becomes a regular "brown" 😂

The leather is soaked in the dilute solutions for at least 4 (sometimes 8) hours at a time so it can take 4 or 5 days of experimenting until I get something i’m happy to show my clients.
The dyes also only work their way into the crevises of the leather over long periords of time, so these extended soaks are responsible for the detailed grainy effect in the colour.

Final shot shows how the colour appears in natural window light.
