Mocha Pull-up for the Patek 5212A

 
 

Really enjoyed making this Mocha “Pull-up” cowhide for the Patek 5212A.

“Pull-up” leather felt like a particularly good match for the watch because it has a nice way of changing as you handle it: becoming lighter, darker and more marked with wear. 

I kept the strap padded and stitched down the sides, much like the original Patek strap, but the Pull-up leather gives it a little more character by complimenting the slightly relaxed handwritten-style dial.

That gradual step down from the case follows the shape of the 5212A’s lugs almost perfectly, giving the strap some presence without looking heavy.

Combine this with a casual sweater, a bit of sunlight, and without trying too hard, you get a great old-school, (almost academic) quietly put-together feeling.
