Dark Olive leather for the Seiko 6309

I’ve always loved the wild strap culture that surrounds Panerai — thick, handmade leather builds with serious presence. It’s a rabbit hole I’ve spent years in.

But with a 17cm wrist, a 44mm PAM just isn’t happening. Enter the Seiko 6309: same brutish charm, just way more wearable. It’s a vintage diver with real presence and a case shape that can carry a strap with serious attitude.

This is my take on the Panerai-style strap — built to bring that same rugged, oversized energy to a smaller watch. Thick-cut, minimally tapered (22/20mm), closed off-white stitching, and twin floating keepers.

Not a replica of the Panerai look — more like a tribute. A reminder that this style doesn’t need to be locked into one brand or one kind of watch. The 6309 wears it effortlessly. Like it was made for the outdoors — walking tracks, wet sleeves, gear in hand.

There’s nothing polished or precious about it. It’s all texture, all character, and totally in step with the workhorse it’s paired with.

This is the first of ten “brutish” straps I’ve built for my 6309 — all using leather from my vintage collection. Each one shaped slightly differently. Some distressed, some padded, some with subtle patina techniques that will shift with wear.

No machines, no templates, each one 100% crafted by hand.
